The Louisiana Breastfeeding Coalition created this website to link mothers, families and all sectors of the community to breastfeeding information and resources. Read below to learn about the information available in each section of this website.

On a local and statewide level, the LBC hopes to affect all spheres of influence that surround a breastfeeding family, so together we experience a culture where breastfeeding is the norm.

Mothers

Learn why breastfeeding is important to you and your child’s health, how to return to work or school while breastfeeding, why breastfeeding is important in emergencies or disasters and where to find help.

Families

To be successful with breastfeeding, mothers need support from everyone, especially from their family and friends. Dads, partners and grandparents can learn easy ways to support their breastfeeding family member.

Healthcare

Healthcare providers can learn about LA’s hospital based breastfeeding initiative- The Gift, training and education resources for staff, educational resources for patients, and information about breastfeeding and emergencies.

Employers

Learn how breastfeeding saves employers money and the easy steps an employer can take to support their breastfeeding employees. Learn more about how the LBC is helping employers throughout the Louisiana establish workplace lactation accommodations and comply with the federal law.

Communities

Find information about LA’s local breastfeeding coalitions, promoting breastfeeding in the community, supporting breastfeeding in child care settings, the WIC program and milk banking.

Legislation

Learn more about local, state and federal laws related to breastfeeding, advocacy and The WHO Code.

February 2012- Now you can purchase a LBC poster at Zuka Baby- a natural parenting boutique in New Orleans! You can also purchase posters from Zuka Baby online.

August 2011- Check out the posters the Acadiana Breastfeeding Coalition and the Greater New Orleans Breastfeeding Awareness Coalition put in their local buses and street cars for the month of August!

August 15, 2011-The Latch on America tour and the Big Pink Bus visited New Orleans on August 15th!

August 3, 2011- The Acadiana Breastfeeding Coalition announced its birth as an official non-profit organization on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 8-8:30am at the LITE Center Theater in Lafayette, LA. Click here to watch the news coverage of the event.
